This programme of theatre workshops and projects has evolved and developed in partnership with schools over the past 12 years. The programme is focused around the creative exchange between performing artists and children or young people; therefore our schools work is always interactive. The aim of our workshops is to use drama as a method of learning. We ask children and young people to ‘put themselves in the shoes’ of those characters in the play they are studying or topic they are learning about.
We believe this way they can gain further understanding of what it was like to have been that character and to have been faced with their dilemmas, decisions and lifestyles.
Requirements
We need a large hall, which we can have access to for 20 minutes before the workshop begins and a CD player. A teacher or other school representative must also be present for the duration of the workshop to assume control for any emergency procedure.
