Previously part of the Thorndike Theatre, Leatherhead, Theatre Exchange has been producing work for young people since 1989. We became an independent limited company with charitable status in 1997 and since 2001 we have worked in collaboration with Tandridge Trust. As of September 2006, Theatre Exchange and Tandridge Trust merged to secure the strong working relationship between two companies with shared ideals and the development of valued working practices.
Theatre Exchange is dedicated to producing quality theatre, drama and dance experiences for children and young people, too often this work is produced with poor production values and artistic content giving the impression ‘its only for kids so it’ll do’. We work hard to change this perception. All of our actors and experiences are carefully researched and developed. Our actors receive detailed topic briefing and rehearsal.
We continue to offer core training and advice for those who want to become practitioners in the field of youth arts. We can offer Arts Award to schools and other providers. We are trained Arts Award advisors and can advise clients through this process.
Fundamental to all our work, we aim to nurture the health and personal development of children and young people, those who care and work with them and our artists. We are proud of our work and aim to maintain our excellent reputation in schools.
