At Tandridge Leisure Centre lessons are available from 5 months to adult. Please see below for classes that we currently offer.
These lessons are for babies and toddlers aged 5 months-4 years. Our goal is to teach your baby water confidence and teach them how to be safe around the water, using play and song. Learning to swim at an early age reduces the chances of children developing fears o the water. All sessions take place in the fitness pool; parent/guardian must be in the water at all times.
Adult and Child 5-18 months
Tuesday 10am, Wednesday 10am, Thursday 10am and Friday 10.30am
Adult and Child 18 months – 3 years
Tuesday 10.30am/11am, Wednesday 10.30am, Thursday 10.30am and Friday 11.30am
Adult and Child 3 years +

Swimming lessons from 4-16 years. All lessons are for ½ hour unless otherwise stated.
This class is an introduction to group lessons for complete non swimmers and takes place in the shallow end of the lagoon pool. Through play and movement in the water, children become more confident. (This class is not suitable for children aged 6+)
Tuesday 3.30-6pm, Wednesday 1-2.30pm, Friday 4-6pm
This class will introduce and improve the three main swimming strokes. Pupils will also learn new water skills such as floating and swimming underwater. Your child will develop basic safety awareness and water confidence skills.
(All beginners must be able to stand in the shallow end of the fitness pool 0.9m)
Monday 4-5pm, Tuesday 4-5.30pm, Thursday 4-5pm, Friday 4-6pm, Saturday 10-11am
This class is for stronger beginners who are able to swim 5 metres front crawl and back crawl. This class will improve your child’s swimming ability. (This class takes place in the deep end of the lagoon pool)
Tuesday 4-6pm, Friday 4-6pm
This class is for pupils who can swim a width of the pool (10 metres) on their front and back. Swimmers will improve their strokes and develop their breathing skills.
Monday 4-5pm, Tuesday 4-5.30pm, Thursday 4-5pm, Friday 4-6pm, Saturday 10-11am
This level introduces a wide range of other skills such as sculling, rotation skills and treading water. Swimmers will be using the main swimming strokes emphasising the importance of good streamlining and breath control.
Tuesday 4-5.30pm, Thursday 4-5pm, Friday 4-6pm
This class will develop effective swimming skills including co-ordinating breathing and water safety skills. Lessons will introduce diving and survival skills.
Monday 4-5pm, Tuesday 4-5.30pm, Thursday 4-5pm, Friday 4-6pm, Saturday 10-11am
This is a 30 minute length session for those who are capable of swimming 25 metres. Pupils will improve their stamina and stroke technique.
Wednesday 4-5pm, Thursday 5pm
This length session is for one hour for competent swimmers. Pupils will progress their stamina whilst maintaining their stroke techniques. Pupils will work through the Challenge badges and develop a higher level of water skills, including tumble turns.
Monday 5pm, Tuesday 5.30pm, Thursday 5.30pm, Friday 6pm, Saturday 11am
This is a fun hour’s class for pupils who want to start learning new skills including self rescue, rescue of others, how to respond in an emergency and water safety.
Are you ready to develop your skills and knowledge in aquatic survival, rescue, sport and fitness? Every year between 450-600 people lose their lives in water. Together we can reduce this number.
The new ‘survive and save’ award is flexible and modular and allows all abilities to enter the programme. You will be awarded a certificate and medal for each award that you achieve. Let’s see if you can complete the challenge and arm yourself with valuable lifesaving skills! Courses are not run throughout the year, please check with Reception.
This NPLQ course is a nationally-recognised qualification. Being a lifeguard offers a fantastic foundation to a career in the leisure industry. (Courses are run sporadically across the year, please check with Reception) link
Specialist swimming lessons for those with a disability. Lessons are for 20 minutes and are taught on a one to one basis.
Saturday 9-10am, Sunday 8.30-10am
Our adult lessons are designed for pupils aged 16 years+. If you have never swum before and would like to learn how to swim, but would like to brush up on your stokes, we have the classes for you. All classes are taught by qualified instructors who recognise individual needs and will work on them through gentle practice.
Tuesday, Adult Beginners 8.15-9pm. Adult Improves 9-9.45pm
Wednesday, Adult Beginners 11-11.45am, Adult Improvers 11-11.45am, Adult all levels 9-10pm
If you cannot commit to a whole course, join our Adult Swim Fit class on a Wednesday form 12-1pm.
An instructor will be on poolside to give you pointers to improve your stroke.
