Access for All
Tandridge Trust aims to create an inclusive environment in which people with mobility, sight or hearing difficulties, people with special needs or people with major health issues can fully access our centres and the services we provide either as part of our public sessions or during specially organised sessions. For specific information on each site please download the following access documents:
- Access at de Stafford Sports Centre
- Access at Tandridge Leisure Centre
- Access at The Village Health Club
At Tandridge Trust we offer Swimability sessions for those who prefer to swim outside of general sessions and Exercise Referral sessions in the gyms for those recovering from major illness. We also offer smaller group swimming lessons with a qualified ASA swimming instructor for those with special needs (Tandridge Leisure Centre only) or if you would prefer, private lessons are available on a one to one or one to two basis. We welcome visits from groups from disabled or special needs clubs or schools but ask that you contact the centre ahead of your visit so we are able to confirm that all of our facilities are available and thus avoid disappointment.
If physical activity is not what you are looking for we also offer a range of arts activities for all ages including watercolour painting, which may accommodate people with disabilities or special needs. If you are a member of a group, we would like to work in partnership with you to organise activities in the community.
Both de Stafford Sports Centre and Tandridge Leisure Centre are fully accessible with ramps, lifts and marked disabled parking spaces which are close to the front of the buildings. Our pools have disabled changing rooms available within the Changing Villages with toilet, shower and locker facilities (and at Tandridge Leisure Centre, a changing bed is also provided) and there are also separate disabled toilet facilities available on the ground floor (Tandridge Leisure Centre) and ground floor and first floor (de Stafford Sports Centre). The Fitness Place Gym at de Stafford Sports Centre has a separate disabled changing room available close to both the gym and studio areas.
Assisted access to the pool at Tandridge Leisure Centre is available via the beach area of the lagoon pool using a submersible wheelchair and at de Stafford Sports Centre we have a pool hoist. Staff are available to assist at all times, so please ask should you require additional assistance. Concessionary memberships and ‘pay as you use’ prices are available and access for carers accompanying a disabled person is free at all times (when using the Fitness Place Gyms a carer will need to have had an induction and if using the equipment themselves, a gym admission fee is chargeable).
Should you require additional assistance in the event of an emergency or building evacuation please ask to speak to the Duty Manager on arrival at the centre so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
