Live and Direct

Live and Direct is a programme of weekly rock and pop music workshops for teenagers aged 11-15 years. These sessions take place at The Orpheus Centre in Godstone, who provide a fantastic venue, instruments and recording equipment for the young people taking part. The project is funded through Youth Music Foundation and supported by Tandridge Trust, Surrey County Council, Rhythmix and importantly Surrey Youth Development Services who manage the weekly sessions. Over 60 young people have now been involved with this project.

The young people have now organised themselves into several bands and have performed at local venues including The Barn Theatre, Euphonic music festival, Celebrating Surrey and The Arc. Evaluation of this project demonstrates how it has had a positive effect in developing self-esteem amongst the young people involved.
